Kind of chaotic there in the dark. I can't see how the ignition coil is mounted or any sign of it in the engine bay in the video. Where do the screws go ? I have a loose hangin ignition coil in the engine bay beside the ignition amp but I cannot see any engine bay mounting points that would match up with the mounting bracket of the coil ?

I just aquired one of these machines. Haven't been used since 1992. Turns on nicely though but only shows green screen with Black lines through it. The diskdrives' leds light red but doesn't seem to read disks. Sounds like it tries. I will try to open, discharge, check the belts and clean it all up with iso.

I only have scart and rf connections in my vcrs. I have a scart to usb converter that didn't work when I connected my blu ray player and macbook. I have a 360 somewhere that might work, but I have to dig it out. The only thing that works for me is my dvd player. Half of my collection is copy protected, so my other option is to play movies on my dvd player via usb. I'm trying to record a compilation of Horror clips to vhs. It's a slow process without access to youtube. I'll figure out a way.

My guess is they didn’t care because they didn’t think people would have vcrs and such now lol

hi my mate has this model re cap on the power unit there's a repair man in reading stopped working on them he's not pleased and the cost now is silly he was silly about the make's of caps i have i said you get them when he find the cost he was not pleased one bit

Really detailed video, thank you - I was just wondering if you have a have a particular tool set that you use to maintain and repair your K11 micra.

I remember this model well from my school days around 1981, you know .....when we sat on the floor looking up at a 24" screen wheeled about on stilts with this shiny new bit of tech on a vcr shelf underneath. I was fascinated by it more than the programmes we watched. Anyway, I'm positive it was this model but for the remote control side of things it had a small separate receiver box thing attached to the side of it, plugged in round the back, so it looks like remote control was an option. It was definitely a remote receiver because an led on it blinked when the teacher pressed the remote.

hi i worked on alot of betacam decks alot you find alot of people out there are trained in away to deal with them i have no sony training i just picked it up over the years note i have 50 betacam deck all working now there's only some makes i am looking for first line betacam the decks with liner audio not sp decks there are people with alot of tape i have alot of zonal master tape 100's of them used once and new sealed betacam tapes 30min plus i used to get offered gear all the time still do i am so picky now

I’m trying to record tv shows I like from Discovery plus on to vhs tapes there brand new blank tapes & seem to be recording when I push the record button on my vcr but when I go to play the tapes on another tv & vcr there no pic or audio when the tape starts to play just a black screen. What am I doing wrong???

One of the major problems with old cassette decks is that for several decades they are subject to varying atmospheric conditions, add to that slow motion chemical reactions and we get sticky mechanisms, and oxidised belts. All that before we even look at the electronics! I see you've made a second video?, I'll take a look there ..... :o)

How's the aspect ratio? Does it crop of the sides or does it stretch to fit. I tried a similar thing with my own video, hooking my combined CRT and VHS recorder to my mac mini and got too much strech. If I were to record copyright protected material to VHS in a purely hypothetical scenario it would be Garth Marenghi's Dark Place

I don’t think anyone who works for the streaming services anticipated anyone trying to record to an analogue format. They’ve put in place all kinds of technical restrictions on recording the signal digitally, but not “old school” analogue. I bet you could record to a STB /VCR with an inbuilt DVD recorder too. I’ll have to try on my Panasonic DVD RAM recorder.

Of course it will work, it's analog, there's no information going out. HDMI actually has digital information. RCA and component cables don't transfer information.

I don’t think Piracy works with Netflix. You’re basically recording off of a tv program or movie from a streaming service. You’re copying off of an existing vhs tape like we did in the old days of a double vhs tape player

How does the cassette “sled” if you will, work? Does it have a motor and belt that pulls the cassette up?

I got bit on one as well. Mine ran but would not suck up the oil. The engine oil was warm and should have came out. Ended up using a hand pump model extractor that a frend had.

I also had a fuse blown on the new machine and now I know why I changed the hoses and the greater flow of the sucked oil, the fuse didn't last

Usually many newer devices that have composite output don’t normally have macrovision protection in streaming apps like Netflix (probably because companies don’t care about low quality analog copies of their content, plus most devices that have Netflix today don’t normally have composite). That’s usually dvd that has this protection. Even many newer DVDs, I’ve tested a dvd that came out in 2023 and still has macrovision.
